NSS Bureau:

The NSS Bureau of Rama Devi Women's University was established in the year 2016.The University pursued the State Govt. to establish a NSS Bureau in the University. Finally the Dept. of Higher Education, Govt. of Odisha, Bhubaneswar in Letter No. X-HE-NSS-53/2016. 9265/HE Dated 13.04.2017 gave instruction to Rama Devi Women's University, Bhubaneswar to open a new NSS Bureau in the University and directed the Programme Co-ordinator of the NSS Bureau of Utkal University to transfer the NSS Units consisting of 2150 NSS Volunteers of the 47 Women's Colleges to Administrative Control of Rama Devi Women's University, Bhubaneswar with effect from 2017-18. In January 2016, Rama Devi Women's University, Bhubaneswar appointed one of its Faculty Members Dr. (Smt.) Bichitra Pani, Reader in Mathematic as a first Programme Co-ordinator, NSS. Presently Dr. Aliva Mohanty Associate Professor in Gender studies is working as the Programme Coordinator, NSS. The University has two numbers of NSS Units of its own. Dr. Monalisha Mohanty, Assistant Professor, Department of BioTechnology is the Programme Officer of Unit-1 and Dr. Gouri Prava Samal, Assistant Professor, Department of commerce is the Programme Officer of Unit-2.

The NSS Bureau of Rama Devi Women's University was established in 1st April 2017 vide Notification No. 3551 Dated 04.08.2017 of the University . The NSS Bureau of Rama Devi Women's University, Bhubaneswar has 43 NSS Units and 2150 NSS Volunteer strength under its jurisdiction as transferred to it from the NSS Bureau of Utkal University, Bhubaneswar as per the instrutions of the State Govt. Although there are 48 Women's Degree Colleges under Rama Devi Women's University, Bhubaneswar only 29 of these Colleges have NSS Units including the University.

Objectives

1. The board objectives of NSS are to:

  1. Understand the community in which they work.
  2. Understand themselves in relation to their community.
  3. Identify the needs and problems of the community and involve them in problem solving process;
  4. Develop among themselves a sense of social and civic responsibility;
  5. Utilize their knowledge in finding practical solution to individual and community problems;
  6. Develop competence required for group living and sharing of responsibilities;
  7. Gain skills in mobilizing community participation;
  8. Acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitude;
  9. Develop capacity to meet emergencies and natural disasters and
  10. Practice national integration and social harmony.

The Motto

The motto or watchword of National Service Scheme is: 'NOT ME BUT YOU'. This reflects the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for the selfless service and appreciation of other person's point of view and also to show consideration for fellow human beings. It underlines that the welfare of an individual is ultimately dependant on the welfare of society on the whole. Therefore, it should be the aim of the NSS to demonstrate this motto in its day-to-day programme.

31ST ROAD SAFETY WEEK RALLY

The NSS Unit-II of Rama Devi Women's University has observed the "Fit India Cyclothon" Program on 18 th of January, 2020. Cycling is good for health and health is wealth. Cycling fit India is central government's program. The volunteers first went on cycling through out the surrounding of the university campus and then there was a meeting regarding the said cause for the students and faculties of the university.


The NSS Unit-II took Pledge on 31st October 2019 on "Rastriya Ekta Diwas" with observation of birth anniversary of Sardar Ballav Bahi Patel. This day is also called as National Unity Day which was introduced by the government of India in 2014. The students took the pledge to re-affirm the inherent strength and resilience of our nation to withstand the actual and potential threats to the unity,integrity and security of our country.
