4th Annual Athletic Meet of the Athletic Club of Rama Devi Women's University held on 28 January 2020. Honourable President of 4th Annual Athletic Meet, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Padmaja Mishra of Rama Devi Women's University inaugurated the meet. Honourable Chief Guest of the Meet was Dr. Sudhanshu Sarangi, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Guest of Honour was Mr. Ashok Sahoo, President, Odisha Basket Ball Association, Director Sports Council, Chairperson PG Council and Vice President of Athletic Club, RDWU addressed the athletes and encouraged the volunteers and students.
Both UG and PG students have participated in 11 numbers of athletic events including events for 42 volunteers and University staffs. There were around 90 student volunteers (NSS, NCC, UG and PG students) to provide various services required during the student's performances). Ten number of athletes have been felicitated with medals who have participated in various national level inter- universities competitions.
Annual Sports meet was held on 18-19 January 2019 has been inaugurated by the Honorable Vice Chancellor of Rama Devi Women's University. Ms. Dutee Chand one of the Indian professional sprinter and current national champion in the women's 100 metres event was the Chief Guest of the closing ceremony. Ms. Dutee Chand addressed the sports participants from 49 colleges and encouraged amidst the distribution of medals and certificates. She has been the role model for many Odia girls.
The following shall be the members of Advisory Committee of Rama Devi Women’s University Athletic Club
N.B.: In the absence of any Captain, the vice Captain selected by competent Committee shall attend the meeting of the Advisory Committee and will discharge the function of the Captain.
iii) The Vice-President
There shall be an Executive Committee of the University Athletic Club consisting of the following:
(c) One class representative from each class (UG 1st, 2nd, 3rd & PG 1stand 2nd Year)
(d) Fifty percent of the members shall constitute the quorum.
(e) In addition the meetings of the Executive Committee shall be attended by the members of the Advisory Committee. There shall be no meeting of the Executive Committee without the Vice-President and University Sports Officer.
The following shall be the functions of the executive committee
The secretary shall be elected by the students of the university during the election to the students’ union, and other societies, clubs and associations. The following shall be the responsibilities of the Secretary.
vii) The Assistant Secretary
The Assistant secretary shall be elected by the students of the university during the election to the students’ union, and other societies, clubs and associations elected from among the students of the UG 1st year and PG 1st and 2nd Year Classes. She shall assist the Secretary in smooth functioning of the club and shall discharge all the responsibilities of the secretary in her absence.
viii) The Captains
The Executive Committee’s tenure of Office shall be for one academic session only, that is, from the date of oath taking after the election to the last working day of the University before Summer Vacation or 15th May, whichever is earlier.
There shall be an Annual General Body Meeting of the Club, the date of which will be fixed by the OSD/Vice-Chancellor. In this meeting the Secretary will present her annual report and a statement of accounts for the academic year under review will be presented by the Vice-President. Amendments to the rules of the Club, if any, will be considered at the meeting. Resolutions of the amendments will be forwarded to the Vice-Chancellor for his/her consideration.
The following shall be the duties and responsibilities of the University Sports Officer.
xii) Election Rules
The election for the posts of Secretary, Asst. Secretary shall be held in the beginning of each Academic session along with University Union Election. The Secretary shall be elected from among the students of + 3 and P.G. classes of the University. Assistant Secretary shall be elected from among the students of UG 1st year, 2nd year and P.G. 1st year classes only. The election procedure as laid down for the University Union Election shall be followed.
xiii) The Chairperson, P.G. Council shall have the final authority on any matter of dispute regarding the functioning of the Athletic Club. His /Her ruling on such matters shall be final and binding.
